Baku chosen by majority vote as the next venue for FIA General Assembly meeting and awards ceremony
Baku will host the General Assembly of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and the awards ceremony in 2023.
The decision was made at FIA General Assembly meeting held in Bologna, Italy. Our country was represented at the meeting by a delegation led by Anar Alakbarov, President of the Azerbaijan Automobile Federation (AAF).
It should be noted that several countries, including Azerbaijan, vied to host the FIA General Assembly meeting and the award ceremony. Azerbaijan's candidacy was approved as a result of the vote. Thus, Baku will host the global event from December 4 to December 8, 2023. Automobile organizations and prominent figures of motorsports from across the world will gather in our country for the meeting of the FIA General Assembly and the award ceremony.
The General Assembly, convened annually or extraordinarily, is the supreme governing body of the FIA and is composed of motorsport federations (clubs), representing the member organizations of the International Automobile Federation and the clubs active in the field of mobility. The goal of this event, held yearly in different countries is to discuss various topics in the field of motorsport and industry.
The FIA Prize-Giving Ceremony is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious events in motorsport. Since 2011, this event has been held at the conclusion of the FIA General Assembly to award various prizes in the field of motorsports.
